About Me

I am Preeti Raghunath, Lecturer (Communication and Media Studies) at the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Monash University, Malaysia. My current work is located in the realms of AI and data governance in South and Southeast Asia.

My academic interests lie in communication and media governance, and media anthropology. Drawing from this, my work has focused on communication technologies and associated policies, placing people at the centre of such an effort.

Areas of interest: I enjoy researching on:

  • public-centric workings of communication technologies, both policies and practices
  • empire and media, bringing archival and ethnographic perspectives to the global
  • theorising media policy through critical, deliberative and sustainability lenses

Please find more about my work in my CV here

My book titled, Community Radio Policies in South Asia: A Deliberative Policy Ecology Approach, as part of the Palgrave Studies in Communication for Social Change Series, is available here
